Recap of Books Read in January 2018 (29!!)

I’m not joking when I say I live vicariously through books.  I love pretending I’m in a place I’ve never been or once again visiting somewhere I have been.  I love pretending that I’m a better and brighter version of myself, which I can do by placing myself inside the story.  Of course, some characters make choices that I wouldn’t.  In those instances, I spend a lot of time inside my head thinking about how I would do things differently.  I very often dream at night about the books I am currently reading.  When I wake up, I have often completed the story the way I want it to be.  Then I read the authors’ versions and realize that they know what they are doing much better than I do!  But I can pretend…

Morpheus wake up keep dreaming

I do not write reviews for every book I read, especially since I’ve been on a romance kick.  Sometimes the stories are too similar to each other and it’s not worth regurgitating what I’ve already written.

Thanks to audiobooks and a volunteer position at my local food bank where I actually have quiet time to listen to them, I got through a large number of books in January.

I also want to give a big sigh of thankfulness for a recent addition to my Audible subscription (their Romance Package) where, for an extra $7, I have access to a TON of books that fall into the Romance category.  I cannot tell you how nice that is to just be able to click on the next (free) available audiobook to download.  If I start one and discover I cannot take the narrator’s voice or I think it’s going to be ridiculous, then I just move on to the next (that’s only happened twice so far).  They are the same books (often new releases) that I am receiving emails about from a multitude of authors currently promoting their books.  This is a fairly new feature on Audible.  I keep checking back to see if they will ever offer something like this for other genres.  It’s saving me a lot of money and is worth the extra small fee since I do actually use it.

I’ll just share the books I did get through in January (sorted by star rating).  Keep in mind I read books old and new.  They are not all going to be new releases.  I’m hoping you’ll see something that piques your interest and you’ll find something new to put on your TBR list.

  1. Oops, sorry. It seems that the images are not showing up on the mobile app. I’ll try to find time tomorrow to write out the titles (currently I’m just using thumbnails of book covers). UPDATED: Done. Hope there are no further problems. 🙂
