“Sugar Pine Trail” by RaeAnne Thayne #7 Haven Point series ★★★1/2

Spinster librarian, Julia Winston, takes in two young boys (5 and 8) who have been hiding out in her library after discovering they have been raising themselves in an abandoned home in the middle of winter. As the authorities search for their missing mom, Julia offers to serve as a temporary foster parent. With the help of her too-attractive tenant who lives on the upper level of her Victorian home, they provide a source of love and comfort to the sweet boys.

Jamie Caine is the personal pilot for Caine Technologies and is known to be a bit of a playboy. He comes across Julia’s bucket list for the upcoming year and makes it his mission to help her achieve these goals without getting too close to her. What Julia soon discovers is Jamie’s thoughtful, caring side, his ease with children, and the reasons for his fear of commitment.

This is an enjoyable cozy romance which takes place around the holidays and includes Caine’s large, loving family who circles around Julia and the boys, taking them in as if they were already a part of the group.

This is part of a larger series but can be read as a stand-alone.
